Quality over Quantity

This was a very short trip. I only had 2 hours to fish before sunset and while I would love to stay out after dark, I don't have a light on my kayak (easily fixable) and I also don't have what I would consider a safe place to launch and retrieve the kayak after dark.

My goal was to catch the approaching front pressure drop. I thought I would be out there while the pressure was dropping but looking at my weather station data when I got home, the pressure had been dropping all day until about the time I got lines in the water and then it leveled out and even ticked up a bit. This happened to coincide with the bite. I dropped lines in right at the end of the pressure drop and landed 2 big fish immediately. After it bottomed out and started to rise the bite was gone. Maybe a coincidence but it is consistent with other trips.

All in all it was a good night. 22.5in and 28in blues within 5 minutes. Not bad for a short trip.

3,4,5/0 double action circle hooks in use on this night. I am really liking these hooks. The 28in blue was caught on the same hook that I ended up catching a 13in blue later. This is the balance I have been seeking.
